Server Won't Start After a Change
Use this page when the server started failing after you changed files, mods, plugins, versions, or configuration.
Start with what changed
Section titled “Start with what changed”List the last change you made before the failure. The newest change is the most likely cause.
Common causes:
- A mod or plugin does not match the game version.
- A dependency is missing.
- A configuration file has a typo.
- A runtime or loader was changed without matching files.
Check the newest console error
Section titled “Check the newest console error”Open the console and read the newest error. Look for the mod name, plugin name, file name, or configuration line mentioned near the failure.
Revert one thing
Section titled “Revert one thing”Remove or undo only the last change, then restart once. If the server starts, you have found the likely cause.
If the server still fails, move to the next most recent change.
Restore if needed
Section titled “Restore if needed”If several changes were made at once, restoring a known-good backup may be faster than guessing. Remember that a restore can replace newer files with older ones.
If it still does not work
Section titled “If it still does not work”Open a ticket with the server name, game/runtime, what changed, the newest console error, and whether restoring a backup has been attempted.
