Create Your First Game Server
Use this guide to create a game server from the Portal and get it ready for players.
1. Check your account
Section titled “1. Check your account”Log in to the ZeroLagHub Portal and open the dashboard. Check Notices first. If your account has a billing or service notice, handle that before creating a server.
2. Start the create flow
Section titled “2. Start the create flow”Select Create Server, then choose a game server option. The Portal shows the game types and runtimes currently available to your account.
Choose the runtime that matches what you want to run. For Minecraft, that may include options such as Vanilla, Paper, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, or Bedrock when available.
3. Review the settings
Section titled “3. Review the settings”Before you create the server, confirm:
- The game and runtime are correct.
- The server name is recognizable.
- The selected plan or resource size fits your use.
- You understand that some changes may require a restart or a new server.
4. Wait for provisioning
Section titled “4. Wait for provisioning”After you submit the form, the server may show a provisioning or starting state. Wait for the Portal to show that it is ready before sharing connection details.
Some runtimes need extra setup on first start. If the server changes state a few times during setup, give it a few minutes before opening a ticket.
5. Connect and test
Section titled “5. Connect and test”Open the server from Servers. Look for the connection details shown in the server page or console. Use those details in your game client and verify that you can join.
Worked example
Section titled “Worked example”For a Minecraft Java server, the flow looks like this:
- Open the server in the Portal.
- Copy the address shown for the server, such as
mc-vanilla-5257.zerolaghub.quest. - Open Minecraft.
- Select Multiplayer.
- Select Add Server.
- Paste the address into Server Address.
- Select Done, then join the server from the list.
If the Portal shows a separate port, include it in the address exactly as shown.
6. Open the console
Section titled “6. Open the console”Open the console to view logs, start or stop the server, restart after changes, and check basic resource usage.
